RPG is short for role playing game: a game in which players assume the roles of characters and act out adventures, the outcomes of which are partially determined by chance, as by the roll of dice or the determination of a moderator or storyteller.
In a moderated RPG players may not assume anything about the setting that gives them advantage or has not been defined as public knowledge, nor may they assume the success of their actions or the reactions of NPC's. This is what the moderator determines.
