Appearance
He is of the tall end of average height at 5'9", but broad shouldered and athletic from both his personal pursuits and his time in the military. Although lean, he seems solid. Henry's darkly classic good looks are highlighted by a square jaw, a distinctly roman nose, full lips, and brown eyes that seem sharp, watchful and full of an intelligence hidden somewhere in his ready jests. He moves with a strange grace that seems to contrast his build; sometimes almost catlike, though the man himself is possessed by a decidedly doggish cheerfulness and mischievous nature.
Initial Impression of Personality
Henry seems open, convivial, and sometimes a bit cheeky. He is quick with a joke, slow to take offense, and slow to worry about offence where it is given. He seems a man secure in himself and of his position although not particularly ambitious, not politically motivated beyond duty, a loyal subject. He enjoys outdoor activity and physical pursuits, hunting, fencing, riding. He is often found in the park in the mornings with the deerhound, Sancho Panza, he brings with him to London.
Reputation
The very handsome, if somewhat older Henry Grey, lord Fownhope is judged by his peers to be an intriguing wit. He has a trustworthy loyal reputation. His smooth gentleness has not caused him to be at the forefront in politics, though none doubt he can be very driven.
Background prior his arrival at court
Born at Fownhope, in Herefordshire, Henry is the second son of Charles Grey, 4th Viscount Fownhope and Elizabeth Grey. The Viscount Fownhope also had an elder son Charles Grey, 5th Viscount Fownhope who is deceased without issue, and a third child, a daughter, Hon. Emma Grey, later Emma Rigby, Baroness Rigby of Marshbrook.
Henry Grey was born and lived at Grey on Wye House near Fownhope Herefordshire, until the age of six. In 1645 the 4th Viscount Fownhope, Charles Grey removed his wife, two sons, and daughter to his holdings in Barbados. The family remained there until the 4th Viscount's death from fever in 1659. As a second son meant by his father for the army, Henry's education followed a traditional and rigorous course of study. In 1662, only a few short years after his father’s death, Henry, his sister, and his mother returned to England where commission in the army was purchased for him. The 5th Viscount, Henry's brother Charles, divided his time between his estates in England and his plantation in Barbados. Henry spent time in Tangier at various periods between 1664 and 1667 and by all appearances resigned his position to become a private citizen, attached to the English embassy in Spain, until his brother’s death in Barbados in 1675 required his return to England.
His Uncle on his mother's side is Simon Green, making Miles Green his cousin.
Residence
When in London Henry resides at 72 Piccadilly Street.
