Congratulations and thank you! You've decided to apply to join our game, and we want to help as much as possible. Below is the outline of the character sheet. The wiki contains vast amounts of information to help you through the process, including Character Creation Tips.
But please don't think that you're entirely on your own. Should you have questions or need guidance that you don't find in the wiki, there are two ways to contact us:
1) Email us at admin@ageofintrigue.com with your questions, and we will get back to you as quickly as we can. Please allow 24 hours for a reply.
2) Come into our on-line chat room. This is by far the more immediate way to contact us, and there is often at least one moderator in chat at any given time of day (we are an international game).

- Does (s)he meet someone's eyes, or look away?
- What is her/his skin tone?
- Does (s)he have the 'family nose' or some other distinguishing feature?
- Does (s)he have long or short eyelashes?
The first impression
This provides the players' first impression of your character's personality, little quirks and habits that are noticeable.
Character Details - expanded
This section shall only be known to yourself and the moderators, unless you chose to include part or all of it in your character's wiki page. Please note that the wiki pages are OOC information only, unless the information could be considered common knowledge.

This is the personality of your character, which should harmonise with her/his background.
Questions for considering elements of your character's personality:
- How does (s)he deal with strong emotions, such as anger or love?
- Is (s)he an introvert or an extrovert?
- What does (s)he fear?
- What are the driving forces in her/his life?
- What is most important to your character?
- What is her/his outlook on life?
Origin/Background
This is where your character began life, where her/his roots are, and with whom. Please make sure it explains your character's benefits and challenges, and her/his personality development. We prefer a written out story, of at least 4 paragraphs.
Questions to inspire when creating a background:
- How was her/his childhood? Happy or sad?
- Has (s)he brothers and sisters? Are they close?
- Were there any significant role models?
- Why did your character leave home?
- Why is (s)he in London now?
- Has your character loved/been hurt?
- What are her/his morals?
- What would your character die for?
- What is/was her/his most prized possession?
- What is her/his religion or beliefs?
- Is (s)he and/or her/his family devout, or do they just pay lip service?
- What are your characters political believes or philosophies?
- What is the proudest moment in your character's life to date?
- What is her/his biggest regret?
- What is her/his biggest secret?

While elements of your character's background may return in the story lines played out in game, this will largely depend on your initiative; for instance by writing home. You are encouraged to make use of existing NPCs, if they are mentioned in your character's background; for example, as a patron or enemy. You are encouraged to list father/mother/siblings and any appropriate family members with their age and whether or not they are deceased.
Adaptations and Advantages
What skills, benefits, and challenges has your character developed as a result of their unique background? What Reputation has your character already gained and what reputation will you aim for in the game, making your character stand out from the rest?
- Select 2 Benefits (You may select additional Benefits by taking extra Flaws.) This may include the existing Reputation.
- Select 2 Challenges (What special disadvantages does your character have to deal with in life? At times, skills can bring with them disadvantages; for instance, if a person is adept at covert activities, (s)he may find her/himself unable to talk about certain aspects of her/his life, thus becoming perceived as aloof by others.) This may include the existing Reputation.
The Benefits and Challenges are weighed against each other and must balance.
- Select 1 Skill at which to be inept.
- Select 2 Skills at which to be talented.
- Select 1 Reputation which your character will aim for in the game
The moderators will review the combination of skills, benefits, challenges and reputation to make sure the character is not too gifted (or too disadvantaged). We prefer that you only chose one or two major benefits, nor load up on extra skills, and avoid the classic "girl or boy that has it all."
Immediate Aim
What is it that your character wishes to achieve upon arriving in London? It is good to have a set of ambitions and goals for your character as it will help you playing. For more information on how this applies IC, please refer to Goal Orientated Playing.
